As your child becomes more familiar with a variety of Verbal Reasoning questions their confidence will increase and the quality of the test outcomes is going to improve. As your child works their way through book 1 they will be challenged with more difficult question types such as reading a passage and making logical deductions. A passage and a question (or questions) such as the example:-
There are four shops in a town. One is painted black, one white, one purple and the other is painted green. The black and purple shops are large, the others small. The black and white shops sell flowers, the others sell sweets.

Trying a mixture verbal reasoning question types before the 11+ exam, experiencing timed conditions and seeing the results of practice is one of the most important thing your child can do before a test. Practice will serve to increase your child's confidence, sharpen their skills and identify areas of weakness and areas in which they are strong. Preparation will help to dispel fears of the unknown.
A time of 50 minutes is recommended for each test allowing preparation time similar to the actual 11+ exams. A child practicing these tests in the security of their home environment will be at a distinct advantage when sitting the real exam for their chosen grammar or private school.
